Three institutions were reviewed this past academic year with three more scheduled for The second round of compliance reviews of member institutions will be completed in the fall of The Conference made a one-time distribution of reserve funds in to assist member schools in reaching their revenue budgets. Cost Center Budgeting System The conference utilizes a new budget process which includes significant involvement from the Finance Committee which is comprised of a representative of each member institution.

The process includes involvement from this Committee and the ACC office in creating and reviewing the Conference operating budget prior to its approval at the Spring Business Meeting. The ACC Office continues to use a cost-center, responsibility-based accounting system to allow cost center managers the ability to review their accounts on-line and, thus, be able to react quickly in managing their budgets and gaining timely information.

Investment Policies The current allocation of asset investments for the Conference is delegated to the Finance Committee and its Investment Sub-Committee. This oversight includes development of the Conference Investment policy, including the determination of appropriate asset allocations, consistent review of invested funds, and recommendations regarding Conference monetary investments. One of the areas the Conference Office is looking to achieve this is in actively pursuing minority candidates for positions which are available in the ACC Office.

The Conference Office conducts a concerted effort to identify, seek and hire qualified minority personnel. One of the most successful programs developed by the Atlantic Coast Conference is its internship program for ethnic minority males and women. The program has been very successful in placing the interns into permanent positions within the athletics and sports TV industry. Viewership for the site grew to over 15 million page views and 3. The site continues to serve as a centralized location for schedules, scores and results from each of the ACC sports.

It also continued enhancements in its video offerings during the year, including highlights and press conference footage from select championship events as well as video features of various individuals and teams. The site began a new partnership with Team Fan Shop for its online store. The site also continued its online photo store through Pictopia.

The ACC entered the world of social media in early with the building of a conference page on Facebook in January. Both outlets are being used as additional means to reach fans with the ACC messages, while also drawing users back to theACC. The conference has already begun evaluating the use of social media to further develop its presence in the near future. ACC Select continued to showcase live and on-demand Olympic-type sports that are not available through traditional broadcast and cable outlets.

During last year, ACC Select delivered over events spanning 25 sports and reached both a national and international audience. ACC Select streamed coverage of every nontelevised Conference Championship at no charge, giving our fans unprecedented access to the action. Greensboro Urban Ministry was the recipient of a canned food drive hosted by ACC staff members to build up the Greensboro community food bank. Days of Caring is a United Way and Volunteer Center of Greensboro Special Event that mobilizes employees from area work places to provide community service at local agencies and schools.

In all activities, the focus is enhancing the quality of education for all undergraduates. The University of Miami hosted a best practices conference for administrators and faculty responsible for international education in November In February , students presented undergraduate research papers at a conference hosted by NC State University.

In April, 57 student leaders, accompanied by leadership program directors, gathered at Virginia Tech for leadership seminars and competitive learning exercises. Forty-three students from all 12 universities received scholarship awards that helped make possible study abroadarchitecture in Japan, philosophy in. The stature of these All-ACC awards adds greatly to their significance and helps the awardees open doors when abroad. Since no single university can justify hiring the full spectrum of professorial talent for comprehensive coverage of the vast and diverse Eurasian cultures, the capacities of our universities were joined together in the sponsorship of a Eurasian Conference.

Twenty students and forty faculty members from all 12 universities participated in an intensive three-day conference at Koc University, Istanbul. Advanced by this conference, 4 of the universities are launching programs with Koc, several multi-campus research projects are being developed, and a special ACC-Tikrit University Iraq linkage led by UNC is expanding. At the inaugural meeting of the Chief Undergraduate Education Officers held at ACC headquarters , a new program of scholarships for undergraduate research and creative endeavors was designed and implemented.

This program will allow each university, each year, to award between 2 and 5 scholarships that will enable students to pursue, independently and under faculty guidance, a creative or research project in their chosen discipline. Rhodes Scholarships are provided all expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England, and may allow funding in some instances for four years.

The ACC continues to develop public service announcements emphasizing the role of respect and sportsmanship while participating in collegiate athletics. The student-athlete must have also demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting and be of good academic standing. Prior to the academic year, the ACC awarded a sportsmanship award for each of its 25 sponsored sports. The concept of these awards was created by the ACC Student Athlete Advisory Committee in an effort to recognize teams who earned the utmost regard from their peers during competition.

Improvement in the response time for interpretations from the ACC Office to its member schools continues to be a goal. The focus of the workshop was to help educate and bring together financial aid administrators from member institutions as well as those involved in the process of certifying eligibility for student-athletes. Cost Center Budgeting System The conference utilizes a new budget process which includes significant involvement from the Finance Committee which is comprised of a representative of each member institution. The process includes involvement from this Committee and the ACC office in creating and reviewing the Conference operating budget prior to its approval at the Spring Business Meeting. The ACC Office continues to use a cost-center, responsibility-based accounting system to allow cost center managers the ability to review their accounts on-line and, thus, be able to react quickly in managing their budgets and gaining timely information.

Investment Policies The current allocation of asset investments for the Conference is delegated to the Finance Committee and its Investment Sub-Committee. This oversight includes development of the Conference Investment policy, including the determination of appropriate asset allocations, consistent review of invested funds, and recommendations regarding Conference monetary investments.
